Actually, scientists figured out that each year, days are getting longer and longer! But the changes are very small so it would take millions of years to notice a difference. Every year the moon slowly moves farther away by 1.5 inches from the earth so the farther away the moon is to the earth, the slower earth will spin on it's axis. Researches believe that about 1.4 billion years ago a day on earth was just 18 hours, they also believe that every year, the days get longer by 0.000018. After some more research scientists have learned that the movement of the moon has changed over time.
